FROM THE EDITORS VIRTUAL DESK
Hi everyone, welcome to this weeks newsletter and the 2nd Quarter of 2015. I would like to remind everyone to please check out the VMware TAM Blog at: http://blogs.vmware.com/tam/. It is also important for you to ensure that you are not affected by any of the latest VMware Kbs which we list each week in this newsletter. This should be part of your weekly maintenance and it would be a good idea to discuss this with your VMware TAM during your regular meetings.
I am back in the USA after a short visit to Australia which was really great but I am pleased to be back in San Francisco.
Have a fantastic week.

- VMware vSphere: A Great Place to Run Enterprise Databases (http://longwhiteclouds.com/?p=10727)I saw a tweet today (shown below) that reminded me of 27th August, 2012. This was the day that VMware published this article, which demonstrates how VMware vSphere (5.1 at that point) could achieve 1 million IOPS in a single VM. Things have undoubtedly gotten better in vSphere 5.5, and even more so with vSphere […]
- Configuring Scalable Low Latency L2 Leaf-Spine Network Fabrics with Dell Networking Switches (http://longwhiteclouds.com/?p=10603)In December 2014 I got an early Christmas present from Dell. They shipped me the latest 40G and 10G S series (Force 10) switches so that I could begin to test, validate and document the integration and reference architectures between Dell Networking and Nutanix. I’m starting with a L2 MLAG (Multi-chassis Link Aggregation Group) configuration […]
- vSphere 6: Using VMCA as a Subordinate CA (http://longwhiteclouds.com/?p=10693)vSphere 6 includes a new certificate authority that issues certificates for all of the different components within your environment to ensure communications are secure. If you want to use VMCA as a Subordinate CA from an Enterprise CA in your environment you need to change the VMCA Root Certificate on the Platform Services Controller (PSC) […]
- Publishing vSphere 6.0 VMCA Signing Certificate (http://www.derekseaman.com/?p=2774)Advertise here with BSA As mentioned in my vSphere 6.0 installation series, you can configure the new VMCA to be a subordinate to your enterprise CA. This is great, and opens up new certificate management options for organizations that wish to use trusted SSL certificates. However, you may run into a situation where this new root certificate is not […] The post Publishing vSphere 6.0 VMCA Signing Certificate appeared first on Derek Seaman's Blog . - vSphere 6.0 Pt. 12: PSC Machine Certificate (http://www.derekseaman.com/?p=2745)Advertise here with BSA Back in Part 11 of this series we configured the VMCA to be a subordinate CA to our enterprise CA. This ensures that all certificates which get used by vCenter components are automatically trusted. But as previously mentioned, not all organizations can use the VMCA. The US Federal Government would be a prime example, where […] The post vSphere 6.0 Pt. 12: PSC Machine Certificate appeared first on Derek Seaman's Blog . Related Stories vSphere 6.0…
- vSphere 6.0 Install Pt. 11: VMCA as Subordinate (http://www.derekseaman.com/?p=2675)Advertise here with BSA As mentioned in my vSphere 6.0 install part 3, VMware has introduced a new certificate option in this release. You can now make a built-in VMware certificate authority (VMCA) a subordinate to your enterprise CA. This is great news, as it will allow some automation of the certificate deployment process. However, there are certainly some […] The post vSphere 6.0 Install Pt. 11: VMCA as Subordinate appeared first on Derek Seaman's Blog . Related…

They are far too busy running their business to fully investigate these opportunities. They have fallen into the trap of simply keeping the lights on. This is a travesty for…

- VMware certification roadmap v6 (http://vinfrastructure.it/?p=16127)With the announce of vSphere 6.0 there are of course a new bunch of certifications, changed not only in the version, but also in some other details. I’ve wrote about the new VMware certifications some weeks ago, and also on the upgrade rules from vSphere 5 based certifications. But finally, with the announce of the VMware Certified Professional 6 – Data Center Virtualization, now available in beta (so this is the first VMware public beta for an exam?) a new column is going to populating the new…
- APAC #vBrownbag – Mirage overview (http://vinfrastructure.it/?p=16118)APAC edition of #vBrownbag is managed by my friend Alastair Cooke (the creator of AutoLab) and actually he is covering the VCP6-Desktop blueprint. One big news of the new version of this certification is the part related to VMware Mirage: the entire section 5 is dedicated to Install, Configure, and Manage VMware Mirage. How don’t know how much will impact the related exams (I’ve not took it yet), but for sure mean a more End User Computing perspective rather that something related only to the View part.…

My guess (but I suppose was almost from all) about the first is confirmed (and cannot be different)… fair enought for the first of each category (it’s a pity that in those case there can be only one… a top 3 for each category could be a good idea for the future). - VMware vExpert 2015 benefits (http://vinfrastructure.it/?p=15230)The primary reason for becoming vExpert certainly should not be related to any possible benefits of the program. And once confirmed (for me is the sixth year in a row) you have to think more about what you can give rather to what is to be expected. But I’d be a hypocrite to deny that there are also practical advantages in being a vExpert! Officially, VMware, according with the vExpert FAQ, say that the biggest benefit of the award is the public recognition as a VMware vExpert Award winner. But benefits…
