faced Purple screen of Death on one of my ESxi 5.1 , 6 node cluster ,
first i tried to reconnect the host , but it gave me an error as below
next the host was in disconnected state , next investigation was to check the network connectivity and ping status . which failed , i got an idea this should something to do with the physical status of the server
next my approach was to check the status of the server , Since we were using UCS, i logged into the manager console and checked the status of the server through KVM , and it was PSOD
i tried to check check some log files , look for some KB articles http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1020214
but the resolution was to open a ticket with VMware and collect the log files ,
The main Root cause for this solution was the Out dated drivers and Firmware on the UCS , which needs to be updated as per the Cisco team ,
VMware informed us , to open a TAC with Cisco and provide the version and Build number for the updated Firmware and Divers which needs to be updated in the UCS
