FROM THE EDITORS VIRTUAL DESK

Hi everyone, this week we have 2 TAM blog posts to highlight. I think that this is the first time that this has occurred and I hope not the last. Our TAM Blog and other social assets such as Twitter and Facebook are always the first places to find this information. If you have not subscribed to any of these please check out the information below.

We have also had a very large number of product updates this past few weeks. Please check out our TAM Products Update section below where you will find a link to this information detailing all of the updates which is well worth checking out.

This week we also have a VMUG news section. I hope to be able to bring an update each week on VMUG in general but it is always good to register and check on your own local VMUG for local happenings.

As usual the rest of the newsletter contains news and information related to VMware which I hope you will enjoy.

Make the Most of Your VMware Support Experience

By Amy Chalifoux

VMware TAMs want to ensure their customers maximize their return on investment with VMware, so they strive to be in tight alignment with our Global Support Services (GSS) group. The short list below is aimed at helping customers have better support experiences. The slide deck linked at the bottom of this post will provide you with additional insight into the organization, support process, and how to make the most of your support experiences with VMware.

The Challenge of the Next Generation CIO

By Steve Tilkens

IT organizations have experienced a dramatic shift over the last 10 years with the widespread adoption of x86 server virtualization. Gone are the days of a server administrator procuring a physical server for a new application, then requesting the necessary network configuration from the network team, and finally requesting the appropriate storage from the storage team. Today’s reality requires a converged engineering skillset, because the Software-Defined Data Center spans all three pillars of the IT organization – compute, network and storage.

Systems of Intimacy- Science Fiction Made Real

I’m lucky enough to have one of those jobs where you are meant to be ‘intimate’ with the future. Someone once accused me of being a futurist!
