FROM THE EDITORS VIRTUAL DESK

Hi everyone, welcome to the 43rd newsletter for 2016. With November upon us and both VMworld USA and Europe completed we turn our attention to the other events around the world, namely the Forum's. These are held all over the world and are a great learning and networking experience for those that cannot make it to VMworld. Chat to you local TAM or VMware account rep and see if there is one happening near you.

One of my favorite parts of vSphere is how our customers interact with their solution to build applications and systems that are uniquely tailored to their needs using our APIs. We have been working pretty hard over the past few releases on this and there is even more in store for you in vSphere 6.5. With that in mind we have recently released a VMware "fling" which allows you to use VMware's Powershell add on calle PowerCLI on Windows, Mac or Linux. Check it out here.

Have a fantastic first week of November and remember to check the KB articles each week in case any affect your environment.

This month’s cover story takes a look at the explosion of the Internet of Things at the enterprise level, and how new cloud-based innovations are helping developers scale up to meet the onslaught of connected devices.

Also in this issue, we address the question: Can we consider containers to be full-on competition for virtualized platforms? In addition, our authors bring you up to speed on log collection and analytics, as well as how to provide better operations visibility for your infrastructure.

And don’t miss our exclusive one-on-one with André Leibovici of myvirtualcloud.net, and a recap of VMworld US!
