Steps to deploy vRealize LogInsight and Configure it for Horizon View setup
1. Download LogInsight OVF and Start deploy it from vCenter
2. Accept the license Agreement
3. Click Next on OVF template details
4. Select the Name and Inventory Location
5. Select the Configuration size based on the requirement
6. Select Host/Cluster > Click Next
7. Select Resource Pool > Click Next and Select Disk Format > Click Next
8. Enter Networking properties and Root password > Click Next
9. Enter Credentials
10. Click Finish by Selecting Power on after deployment
11. Launch the LogInsight url https://<IP Address> and Click Next
12. First time, Select Start New Deployment
13. Enter the Credentials
14. Apply the License key and Click Add and Click Continue
15. Add email > Click Save and Continue
16. Configure NTP
17. Configure SMTP > Click Save and Continue
18. Click Finish to complete the Basic Setup take you to Home page
19. Click on Configure vSphere integration to Add vCenter Server
20. Add vCenter Server Hostname and Credential > Click Test Connection
21. Click on Save configures the ESXi hosts connected to vCenter Server
22. Click on right top menu > click Content Packs
23. Lists the Content Pack.... Click on VMware – Horizon View Content pack to manage View Servers
24. Select license agreement and Click on Install
25. Content pack installation displays Horizon View Setup instructions on completion
26. Click on Ok display General Queries with Instructions
27. Click on Menu on right top and Select Administration
28. Click on Agents from left side of the page
29. Click on Download Log Insight Agent Version > Select Windows / Linux
30. Install the downloaded agent on View Servers and View Agent machines > Point to Log Insight Server
31. Click on All Agents
32. Select Horizon View – Broker (Windows) from available template
33. Click on Copy Template
34.Name Agent Group and Click Copy
35. Define a filter and Include files which needs to be pushed to log insight and Click on Save New Group
36. Once saved, the new group lists in Active groups
37. Similarly, do the same for View Agent and View Client templates to make it in Active groups
38. The defined Active group configuration will be pushed to C:\ProgramData\VMware\Log Insight Agent\liagent-effective.ini file
39. Any modifications to the Active group configuration to the Agents immediately
40. Restart the log insight Agent service will pull the configuration from the server immediately
41. Click on Interactive Analysis shows last 5 minutes of all the collected data
42. Click on Dashboard > Agents shows the number agents available and paired with Insight server and shows the status as per the filter added at the time adding the template to Active groups
43. Click on the Agent event chart (pie) > lists Interactive analysis menu
44. Click on the Interactive analysis menu > opens up the Interactive analysis result with standard filter as follows
45. Can add more filter by Click + symbol and Click on to Add to dashboard to save the customized filter
46. Name the Dashboard > Click Add
47. Go to Interactive Analysis > Click on Event trends to lists all the events based on the Event types
48. Click on the Settings as pointed in the below diagram and Click on Events like this, will lists similar events.
49. Go to Administration > Authentication > Enable AD support and enter the domain details and credentials > do test connection and Save
50. Go to Administration > Access Control > Add domain users / groups and defined the roles for the users
51. To share Dashboard, Go to Interactive Analysis > define the filter > Click on the Dashboard+ icon right below the interactive analysis chart > Select New Dashboard by clicking the dropdown menu > Name the dashboard and Select share among all the users
52. Go to Home page > Click dropdown on My Dashboards > Select Shared Dashboards to see the shared one.
