VMworld 2019 US Key Announcements:
- Project Pacific - Project Pacific fuses vSphere with Kubernetes to enable our customers to accelerate development and operation of modern apps on vSphere.
- Project Tanzu - VMware Tanzu is a new portfolio of products and services to transform the way enterprises build, run and manage software on Kubernetes. VMware Tanzu Mission Control is a single point of control from which customers will manage all their Kubernetes clusters regardless of where they run
- CloudHealth Hybrid - CloudHealth Hybrid will provide a single platform with visibility into cost, usage, and performance of all hybrid cloud resources. With CloudHealth, organizations will be able to quickly identify optimization opportunities, align cost and usage by business unit for showback, and plan successful migrations.
- VMware Cloud on Dell EMC - This fully-managed VMware service provides simple, secure, and scalable infrastructure for customer’s on-premises datacenter and edge locations. This unique approach empowers you to focus on business innovation and differentiation, while VMware operates the entire infrastructure end-to-end.
- NVIDIA / VMware Cloud on AWS - A strategic partnership between NVIDIA and VMware to deliver accelerated GPU services for VMware Cloud on AWS to power modern enterprise applications, including AI, machine learning and data analytics workflows.
- Workspace ONE and Employee Experience– We had some major EUC announcements including AI- powered Virtual Assistant & Concierge Services, Digital Employee Experience Management, Multi-cloud VDI and App Support, and continuous verification of device and user risk scores.
- vRealize Operations Cloud - With vRealize Operations Cloud, customers will also align IT operations with a hybrid model using the same capabilities as the on-premises version.
- vRealize Operations 8.0– Delivered enhanced capabilities for self-driving operations and multi-cloud environments.
- vRealize Automation 8.0– Helping customers solve key automation challenges.
- vRealize Network Insight 5.0– A new version of vRNI with more visibility into the cloud.
- Workspace ONE UEM and Modern Management – Lots of new features including Cross-platform Remote Assistance for IT Help Desks, Workspace ONE AirLift 2.0, Enterprise App Repository, and more.
- NSX-T 2.5– NSX now comes with “NSX Intelligence”, a distributed analytics engine that provides continuous data-center wide visibility for network and application security teams.
- vSAN 6.7 Update 3 - Solving key challenges of cloud-native applications with Hyperconverged infrastructure Powered by vSAN.
- Project Magna– Automated Performance Optimization using AL & ML.
- AppDefense and vSphere Platinum - New features include risk-adjusted vulnerability reports for the entire stack, provided directly inside vSphere Platinum and fully available inside the vSphere Client itself. Reception for these features has been very positive, with the promise of improving vulnerability management and lowering risk for IT.
- NSX Advanced Load Balancer– Avi Networks gives us the next level in software load balancing.
- Workstation 15.5 and Fusion 11.5– New features include new OS support, jumbo frames support, local Kubernetes clusters(!), and more.
