FROM THE EDITORS VIRTUAL DESK
Hi everyone, welcome to the latest VMware TAM newsletter. Each week we try and bring you the latest goings on from around the world of VMware. As we head closer to VMworld in both the USA and Europe we will bring you the latest new each week. This week there is a really good article I wanted to feature below:
Top 5 “Must Dos” to get the most out of VMworld 2015
There is a LOT going on at VMworld 2015. And if you don’t take a few minutes to plan ahead of time, you could miss some really cool stuff. As someone who’s been going to events like this for years, here are a few things I always suggest:
1) Learn how to use the Schedule Builder. The schedule builder allows you to create a personalized schedule at VMworld by pre-enrolling in conference sessions you choose. But, you’re not just limited to scheduling conference sessions. You can also add any other events you’ve got going on – lunch meetings, your certification exam time, parties – as Personal Time (see item 16 in the User Guide). And then you can export it all to your calendar to keep you on track.
2) Take time to wander around the Solutions Exchange. There is a ton of activity going on here that you may miss out on if you just head straight for the free beer and food during the Hall Crawls. Lots of vendor have theaters built right into their booth giving useful presentations (not just sales pitches). You can check out demos, get advice from the subject experts, and more.
3) Expand your network. VMworld is a huge networking opportunity – make the most of it. Checking email is important, but your time waiting between conference sessions and while in line for the next hotel shuttle could be better spent talking to the people around you. And don’t forget that between quick drinks on the way to dinner to full blown parties thrown by various sponsors, a lot of the networking at VMworld takes place after 5pm.
4) Check out the lounges in Moscone West. From the VMware Users Group (VMUG) to the VMware Certification program, lots of groups have lounge spaces that are open to the public at VMworld. You can stop in and learn about their latest offerings, pick up some free swag, charge your phone, and more.
5) Get your hands on the latest tech. The Hands-on Labs at VMworld is one of the most popular areas. You get special access to the latest VMware technologies for no charge. You can use the systems they provide, or bring your own device and experiment all you like.
I have also added the KB articles back however please note that these are always going to be last weeks as I do not get the latest ones when I put out the newsletter.
