The VMware Learning Platform (VLP) user interface has a new look and some exciting new features. One of these is the VLP Lab Builder. The Lab Builder centralizes OR is a one point stop for all content management related operations. Tenants can create, upload, and publish their contents (from a single interface??). I would like to give brief history of why the Lab Builder module was needed. In the classic VLP interface there was no scope to manage, create or upload contents (vDC vApp templates), so tenants used the VMware Cloud Director (vCD) user interface to manage and edit their contents. Uploading larger size files with the vCD loader could be difficult and time consuming. The Lab Builder addresses this concern. It works flawlessly with Amazon S3 and VMware vCD and transfers contents at lightning speed. Customers no longer need to check-in to the vCD Interface to build or edit the uploaded contents from a unified view of Lab builder.
Key Features:
- Tenants can manage, edit, publish, and transfer their contents from a Unified View.
- Automation at backend ensures complete transfer of data at amazing upload speeds.
- Tenant admins receive timely failure notification.
- Users can build new content from scratch or clone from an existing template in the catalog.
- Files supported by Lab builder for upload include ovf, ova, iso, vmks, vmdk, and mf.
- Compute resources of individual VMs can be edited from a vApp.
- Tenants can view their catalogs and contents.
- Many new and exciting features are being added to Lab builder module soon.
