FROM THE EDITORS VIRTUAL DESK

Hi everyone, I have had a great few days with my new Horizon View environment. While not 100% complete I have most everything hooked up as required and working as advertised. I have found most of the setup to be fairly straightforward and that it does pay to read the documentation which I do tend to avoid usually to my detriment. I really like the reviewers guides which I often follow first when using new technology in my lab and recommend this as a simple way to get acquainted with a new solution very quickly.

I have a few items I wish to enhance, namely changing to root certificates from the current self signed as well as implementing a more flexible edge firewall for both Horizon Workspace and View as I am limited in my home lab by a fairly low end router and dynamic IP.

Enjoy this weeks newsletter everyone, more on this and my progress next week.

Kind Regards

Neil Isserow

VMware Senior Technical Account Manager and Newsletter Editor

VMware Cloud Ops Blog: Clouds are Like Babies (http://blogs.vmware.com/cloudops/?p=402)By: Kurt Milne While preparing for the Datamation Google+ hangout about hybrid cloud with Andi Mann and David Linthicum that took place last week, I referred to Seema Jethani’s great presentation from DevOps Days in Mountain View. Her presentation theme, “Clouds are Like Babies,” was brilliant: Each cloud is a little different, does things its own way, speaks its own language and of course, brings joy. Sometimes, however, clouds can also be hard to work with. Her great examples got me thinking…

I would like to talk about an issue I worked on recently with a customer that may come up for other users. I quickly called the customer and we got a remote session going so that I could see for myself what the problem was. The problem was with only one Virtual Machine in that…

A benefit of concurrent-user licensing is that you can rotate in users and not have to pay for licenses for users not on…
