Hi everyone, as I write this I am on my way to Sydney for a short vacation and to see Blue Man Group.
This week I have had an awesome week culminating in the VMware Brisbane Tech Day @ The Hilton event. The morning was all about our local partners who spent the time with one odour tech specialists learning about Mirage and how it can assist in migrating from Windows XP to Windows 7 seamlessly and with little interruption to the organisation.
The rest of the day was all about our customers and showing them the value of hybrid cloud services, how to choose a partner in this space and what VMware will soon be offering. An excellent day, really enjoyed by all and I hope to be able to organise again soon.
A really long newsletter this week and I have tried to keep in as much news as possible as we head towards VMworld 2013.
Have a fantastic week everyone especially if you are at VMworld.
Virtually Yours

- VMware Virtualization Management Blog: Why Your Business Doesn’t Think It Needs You (http://blogs.vmware.com/management/?p=1474)It’s amazing the world we live in. Not long ago, if users needed a machine to test on, their options were to wait patiently for IT to fulfill the request, or buy a prohibitively large piece of equipment on their own and figure out how to get it into a state where they could use it. This, of course, is completely contrary to today where if IT gives a user an answer that they don’t like (for example, it’ll take 2 weeks to fulfill your request for a VM) all I have to do is put down the corporate card at…

- Rethink IT: Managing the Shift to a New Model for IT (http://blogs.vmware.com/rethinkit/?p=455)In a previous post , I painted a picture of a new world in which CIOs act as service brokers, figuring out the best way for them to deploy services, whether internally or externally. In this new world, the CIO essentially oversees a “rental market,” in which services aren’t bought with expensive capital outlays, but rented with operational budget. Such a scenario begs the question of what impact such a “rental market” has on the way IT delivers technology. The first thing the CIO needs to do is…
