Hi everyone, today marks the end of daylight savings in San Francisco and with that I suppose the days will start to get shorter. I really enjoy the later evenings, when I lived in Brisbane we did not have daylight saving and I always thought that we were missing out, and I feel as if I was correct. I still have many readers in Brisbane so if you are reading this maybe it’s time to petition for daylight savings like other states.
I have been pretty focused this week on vSphere 5.5 and SRM 5.5 specifically around the upgrade process for customers looking to do a fresh new install and move to the vCenter Server Appliance. This creates a bit of a challenge for the upgrade as there are a number of items that you do not get with this appliance, such as Linked Mode and also you are fairly restricted on database choices unless you can use the inbuilt database.
That being said I truly believe this is a very worthwhile process and the ability for a clean and fresh start and the removal of some additional complexity by using the appliance is definitely a route worth investigating.
Are you in need of VMware recertification. Well if you are then November is the last month where the VCP5-DCV Delta Recertification exam will be available. This is the easiest way to rectify and the cheapest. I suggest you check it out and see if you qualify and get going on this before it is too late and you are required to do the entire certification exam again (this one is online). More info can be found here:http://tinyurl.com/vmware550d
Have a fantastic and productive week. And for those of my friends and colleagues who will be in Sydney this week for vForum I wish you the best time ever at the best event in the region by far. I wish I was there (first one I have missed in 6 years)
Send me pics and news from the event guys.
